Family Involvement
There are many opportunities to be involved at Allendale:
- Literacy Family Nights: We host two literacy nights a year where you can participate in interactive workshops to learn about how to support at home with literacy development. Dinner, pjs, student read alouds and raffle prizes!
- Harvest Festival: Every fall we host a harvest festival with games, crafts, food, and a parade. Bring the family, help out, or come for a snack and game!
- Family Art Night: Every spring we have a family art night with student displays, pizza, pot luck and lots of art making! Join us for the fun. Contact Ms. Jessica if you would like to help out: jessica.gray@ousd.org
- Coffee with the Principal: On the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8:45am in the cafeteria, parents are invited to have coffee with each other and Mr. Towns to build relationships, learn and provide feedback.
- SSC: Our School Site Council Meets monthly on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm in the cafeteria, to oversee our student achievement plan site plan and budget.
- SELLS: Get involved in our sub-committee for English Language Learners to learn about how we can best support our students who are learning English at our school. Contact Mr. Towns for more information: ronald.towns@ousd.org
The School Site Council
The School Site Council is an elected 10 member committee made up of 5 staff members and 5 parent/community members. The SCC helps develop Allendale's academic and safety plan, and SPSA (site plan for student achievement). They are consulted on many decisions concerning the school's vision and planned activities and are the decision maker on federal Title I funds and Title IV funds.
The SSC meets monthly at 5:30 PM on the last Wednesday of the month in the cafeteria. Meetings are open to all, and meeting notes are posted in front of our office. Join us!
